Taxes
- Personal Income Tax
Tax Rate: From 2% the lowest to 6%, the highest.
Income Brackets: Three brackets from $10,000 the lowest to
$50,000, the highest.
For joint returns, taxes due are twice the tax due for half the
income.
Personal Exemptions: $4,500 for singles and $9,000 for marrieds.
$1,000 for 65 and older.
Standard Deduction: Included in personal exemptions.
Medical/Dental Deduction Same as Federal amount.
Federal Income Tax Deduction: Full.
Public Pension Exclusion: Full.
Private Pension Exclusion: 65+ is $6,000.
Social Security Exemption: Full.
- Sales Tax: 4% (3.9% for food for home consumption and utilities
are taxed at less in the summer)
