Best Smartphone Options For Seniors

Many kinds of phones are available on the market today. From a low-level cheap phone which only supports calling, texting, and simple internet browsing to expensive smartphones with the most sophisticated technologies.

To find the perfect phone for you, you need to assess how comfortable you are with the growing features that smartphones have nowadays. Some seniors might only need a low-price functional smartphone that just perfect for their basic needs, while others might want to take advantage of the additional functions that come from the thriving technologies, not wanting to lose from the youngsters just yet.

For example, smartphones that provide bigger screen size, better camera, and faster 4G internet connection will offer more seamless video-call experience compared to the cheaper ones. Staying connected with a faraway family would be much easier and comfortable. Top-of-the-line smartphones also present you with enhanced video gaming and social media experience if you are into that.

Another feature called 5Star Urgent Response is specially designed for seniors in case of emergency. On the off chance, you found yourself on health or safety predicament, you can push the 5Star button and be connected to a dedicated agent as fast as you can. The phone also comes with daily health tips, brain games, and so on to maintain a healthy body and mind.

The health and safety service is a subscription-based plan with a monthly fee ranging from $19.99 to $34.99. It’s not mandatory to get. If you opt to disable the service, pressing and holding the 5star button will get you to 911 instead.

2.      TracFone Samsung Galaxy J7 (~$87)

This smartphone is another great option for seniors. With the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy J7, Tracfone also offers smartphone plans with Unlimited Talk & Text plus internet data ranging from 1GB to 3GB a month with carryover feature, which means unused data will not expire and can be used for months thereafter.

Not only equipped with a decent spec of 5.5-inch screen, 1.56 GHz octa-core processor, Android 8.0 Oreo, 4G LTE connection, and 13MP back and front camera, this smartphone also comes with a SIM Card so you don’t need to buy a separate SIM card.

Additional features include the decent 4G internet coverage around the US and no hidden extra cost meaning you don’t have to worry about any sudden & mysterious bills that might have come knocking at your door.

3.      Huawei Y7 (~$173)

If you want a more refined, sophisticated phone, then Huawei Y7 is a great alternative at a somewhat affordable price. The large display of HD 6.26 inches provides more clarity in regards to the user interface.

The powerful processor of Snapdragon 450, Adreno 506 graphical processor, and 3 GB of RAM lets you experience smoother and faster day-to-day phone activities. Aside from 13 MP back and 2MP front camera, the longer batteries also serve as big plus so that you don’t have to charge the phone more often.

4.      Mosthink Cellphone for Seniors (~$50)

Last but not least, Mosthink cellphone exclusively designed for seniors. This particular phone isn’t technically a ‘smartphone’. Instead of the touch screen, it has big physical buttons offering ease of use. It also equipped with an SOS button. By holding the button for 5 seconds, the phone will automatically call up to 5 preset numbers of emergencies and families such as 911 and close relatives.

It also comes with a charging dock for a simpler charging and a big battery that can be used for up to 6 hours talking or 9-10 days standby time. A 3G connection is also included.

Additional Note

If you are still feeling uncomfortable switching to a smartphone, it’s a good idea to visit a local phone dealer and do some preliminary checks if the phone you’re interested in is available. This is an excellent way to get more comfortable with smartphones before committing to buy one.
