The following is a podcast from a qualified senior care provider hurt, on the answers for elders radio show. And Walk on everyone, back to answers for elders. This we are talking about hearing loss and a little bit about my story. To Recap, I just this year was fitted with hearing AIDS through a long term scenario of trying to deny my the fact that I was hard of hearing and it’s opened up the whole new world for me. And we are here with Jason Sargent from Herecom and many of our listeners may have heard about you, know, you guys, with seeing a TV ad, which is how I heard about you, and I decided to pick up the phone and call and I had no idea what to expect because here I was, Jason. You know, when when I made the phone call, or you know, I think I’d filled out a web form, is what it was, and then you called me. I was a little bit hesitant and concerned and and then it was like you were just so nice on the phone and easygoing and didn’t push me. And let me come to my own conclusion. And to remind everyone, as we said in our first segment, of the fact is is that Jason is not being paid for this. I’m the one asked him to come on my show because of the process and how easy this is and how my world has opened up. And so, Jason, you’ve been with here for a long time. Tell us a little bit about your firsthand experiences of how you know you help people. Well, I’ve been here for almost five years now and it’s just been a great experience for me. I love the company, but it is a simple process. You know. I talked to a lot of people every day and some people that I speak with are are at that point to where they’re ready to make make the leap and and take care of it and do something about it, and some people need a little bit more time to just really depends on on where they’re at, you know, and how they’re feeling. But it’s a it’s a very fulfilling occupation because I think the best part about my job is the feedback that I get from my customers. To you know that you’re literally changing lives there. They’re calling you up and they’re like, like you mentioned in your first segment with with you and your husband, you know him, that you weren’t paying attention. It’s it’s just affects so many different aspects of their lives and you know, when they call you and they give you that feedback, it’s just it’s very rewarding. You know, Jason, I still agree with you and that’s why I wanted to have you on the show because I think so many people in my age group, and you said one out of every four, and of us that are my age right now, I know one out of four in our s are not wearing hearing aids. So there’s a lot of US running around with hearing loss and they’re saying, well, I’m thinking about it, I know I need to take care of it. Probably a good idea, but there’s something that stops us from actually following through. And the other thing is it’s just it’s so overwhelming the fact that, you know, to think about wearing a hearing aid. There’s such a stigma that that is attached to it. But what I found is with technology and with, you know, things involving I mean, look at this. It’s like you can’t even see that I’m wearing hearing aids from both of my ears. You can’t see it. Nobody notices it, and that’s the beauty of what you have to offers. You’ve opened up the whole new world for me and that’s why I wanted you on the program and I also just want our listeners to know that we have organized and arranged a special trial program for people that are interested in following through with Herecom and if you’re a fit Jason tells a little bit about what your trial is. It’s a forty five day trial. We want to make sure that the hearing aids are going to be the appropriate fit for anybody we fit them with, because everybody’s different. Yeah, so we give a forty five day trial because everybody that gets fit with hearing aids, especially for the first time, is going to go through an acclimation process to where the hearing aids, they’re actually medical rehabilitation devices that are retraining your brain right frequencies that it may not have heard and months or, you know, in some cases years, right. So there is there is a process there and it’s for new users. It’s very important to wear them as regularly as you can. I, you know, usually tell people if they’re feeling overwhelmed and pop them out for a couple hours and put them back in and just wear them as much as you possibly can, because the longer that you’re able to wear them throughout the day, the more effectively in the faster you’ll acclimate to them. But I usually set the expectation of you know, they’ll generally know by about day thirty as to how effective they’re going to be in and the forty five days is there just just to protect people and make sure that they’re in the right set or at any time. You know, we obviously want to avoid people returning them, so we try and find solutions and and make sure we’re working with the audiologists to make sure that they’re performing right. But we even have exchange programs toward you know, if people get to that point or day thirty or forty and decide that they want to try something different, that’s on the table as wellthful form. Well, and what I love to is is, yes, it’s an investment to purchase hearing it, it’s true, but the beauty is is that you have a program that you can actually pay them off interest free in one year. So I just click that box and I am my payments or something like two hundred fifty dollars a month, and I it just comes just auto de Ducts and it’s great because I can pay that off in one year. That’s the beauty of a program like this. It’s really easy. It’s not hard in your life is totally at least for me, has been really transformed. So we can’t a little bit in our initial interview about the dual expert approach. How a little bit about how that works and why does that is that benefit our customers? No problem. And just one thing to mention as well as we do have plans to go out for three or even five years to lower that monthly payment as well. If if that’s something that would enterest you know that’s true. I just decided I wanted to pay it off with the dual expert approach is a combination of frecom and the audiologists that folks for. Of course they have the audiologist that they go in and physically see and that person does all the again tunings and adjustments to make sure that the hearing aids are functioning properly, but they they also have access to myself and then our team at Herecom. So I’m always here to amazing to say. I’ve called you an our you know lefty messages and you’ve been also quick to respond and be there and answer any questions and just totally hold my hands through the whole process, and I think that’s a really important thing, especially an emotional situation like this. And so when I think I filled out a web form, if I seem to remember, and I got a call from you, you kind of explain to me the process and I was very surprised about you know what this process is, because I didn’t. Of course, I don’t know what I was expecting right, but I’ve learned so much about how small hearing our AIDS are today, how their bluetooths run, how they’re rechargeable. You don’t have batteries, at least the product that I have. I know that there’s some out there that do still run on batteries, but tell us a little bit about, you know what that stuff process and how do you determine what’s the best fit for someone like me? Well, there’s a couple of components that go into it, but the main factor is going to be the lifestyle. People tend to think that, or just assume, I guess, that the appropriate hearing is for somebody or based on their actual hearing loss, but it’s really based on their lifestyle. So, to put it into perspective, somebody who is really active and out in a lot of loud environments, restaurants and group situations and in areas like that are going to need a higher technology level than somebody who is, you know, just leads a more sedentary lifestyle and spend this majority of their time at home in a quiet environment. That’s really what what determines that right. Well, and I think the other thing too, is the fact that, you know, you have a variety tube based on budget. So if someone doesn’t have the ability, so you know, when we talk about technology, I am really interested in that. But I also want to just go back a little bit more to the audiologist. So when I went to go get a hearing tech, when I got there the hearing needs already there that we had discussed. You would actually sent them there and I could walk out of the office that day with them on, which was amazing to me that it was that smooth and easy. So you guys been work in conjunction with the audiologist to make that happen. Is that correct? Correct? So will determine, you know, which technology level is likely going to be appropriate. It’s not guaranteed that the hearing age that would have waiting there are going to be a fit. That that really comes from the audiologist, but it’s about ninety five percent of the time it works, so amazing. That’s amazing. And and so when we talk about technology, tell me a little bit about what I’m wearing right now, because I’m like in the type of the cutting edge and I not the state of the art. In my the most advance is there’s fun. I’m I think I have a seven x horizon. Is What mine is? That correct? So the horizons are a herecom device. That’s our device. It’s actually built by Signia, which is the German company that we work with. They’re based out of Berlin. If we called semens used to be called semens. That’s right. Horizon is pretty new and we’re just getting tremendous feedback on they’ve got the yeah, I think probably my favorite features in horizon that are unique to horizon something called speech focus, which is similar to narrow directionality, to where these hearing aids are smart enough to know which direction your head is facing. So as long as you’re looking in the general direction of whoever speaking, you’re going to hear everything that they’re saying. And I don’t know if you’ve tried relaxed mode, but I like that too. That’s where you’re winding down and it’s been a long day and you want to get some rest, you can actually activate relax mode and it plays like a subtle sound of the ocean in the background. It really I did not do I do that. I have to actually download the APP. I Bet yes, you did. I’m using my iphone APP and it’s my understanding. That’s the thing that’s really amazing that your there’s things you don’t even realize that your smartphone is already, in many cases, set up to manage this, the volume up and down, and I’ve got so jason again. You guys have a forty five day trial period. How do we reach you to try it out? You can email me. Just leave your phone number in a good time to call you, and my email address is Jason, and that’s Jay so so and dot sergeant, and that’s Sare G and T at here h e a Arcom and please everyone just know that this can open your world. I am so grateful, Jason, that you came on the show today, because I think it’s important that all of us understand just really how easy this process is and how grateful I am to you and Herecom and my local audiologist that I’m working with for everything, because it’s been one of the easiest things that I’ve ever done. And, by the way, I’ve only been wearing my hearing it’s for about maybe three weeks now, without starting weeks, and I more than all day from day one. So I that’s how easy it was for me to adjust. So I’m so grateful and to each and every one of you. I hope you understand that if you’re hard hearing and if you’ve had some challenges, please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or email Jason, and if you want to learn more about my experience, you know you’re more than welcome to reach out to me as well. So, in the meantime, Jason, thanks to not so much for being on the show. Thank you so much for having me. It’s been a pleasure working with you too. I really the time. So yeah, of course, thank you and to each and every one of you this week. I know that there’s all kinds of things going on, but please stay safe where your mask and if you have a big boosted yet. Make sure you get your booster and until next week, everyone be good to each other. Answers for elders radio show with Suzanne Newman.
