Philosophy of Adult Education
The Adult Education Program at Black River Technical College has as a foundation the belief that knowledge is the key to improving the quality of life. Education puts students in touch with the world around them, develops self-knowledge and promotes meaningful decision-making. The Adult Education Program attempts to increase student understanding of the value of education in gaining knowledge and developing skills necessary for a successful future.
Classroom Instruction
BRTC adult education instructors seek to meet the needs of students and to accommodate all learning styles through a variety of teaching methods and classroom resources:
computer-aided instruction
video and audio instruction
teacher-led small group instruction
teacher-assisted individual instruction
A learning plan, based on an individual’s preferred learning style, is developed for each student upon enrollment, thus allowing the student to begin at an appropriate educational level and to progress at his or her own pace.
