Kendal at Ithaca offers attractive accommodations with extensive residential services and amenities, and comprehensive health care for life, right on site. An entrance fee and an ongoing monthly fee cover the costs of care under a choice of three contracts. We provide facilities and space, but residents plan and execute all activities themselves. This has resulted in the creation of an active, stimulating community, which reflects the interests and wishes of the people living there. Residential services and amenities include Bi-weekly housekeeping service, weekly linen service, all utilities except telephone, free communal laundry facilities, washer/dryer hook-ups in each – unit, basic cable television service, covered carports, a full service bank, regularly scheduled local transportation, one meal a day with others available for additional charge and use of all communal facilities, including auditorium, lounges, library, exercise equipment, craft area, woodworking shop, computer center, winemaking area, swimming pool and spa, putting green, tennis courts, paved walking paths and individual garden plots.Our full continuum of health care for life allows people to face the realities of aging in a positive way, rather than from the viewpoint of illness or disability. Each person benefits from a coordinated approach by our health care team, which consists of physicians, nurse practitioner, nursing staff, social workers, psychologist and physical, occupation, and speech therapists. The resident is a member of the health care team and an active participant in all health care decisions.Kendal offers independent living in 212 cottages and apartments, but as the needs of people change, either permanently or temporarily, other levels of care are readily available. Cascadilla House is our adult home, and Taughannock House provides skilled nursing services in single rooms with private baths. The Health Center is a part of the Community Center, allowing Health Center residents easy access to community activities. Health Center residents have private rooms and baths.The location of Kendal near both Cornell University and Ithaca College insures extensive cultural, educational and recreational activities, which are easily accessed from Kendal. The dramatic gorges and waterfalls carving their way through the city to Cayuga Lake make Ithaca an unusually beautiful place. A number of state and municipal parks, marinas and bicycle and walking paths provide access for hiking, boating, fishing, skiing, photography, and bird watching.
