Helping children spark their creativity is always a fun thing. We often do this by watching movies, reading books, and sometimes even playing games. Are you looking for some places to take your grandchildren to spark their creativity? Here are some places to get their creative juices flowing.

1. The Park

The park is a great place to take them to get some energy out. Exercise not only keeps them healthy but also keeps the blood flowing and can help kids come up with new ideas. Adults too. So, play with them to help spark your creativity, too. Who knows? They may meet up with some other kids and create their own game or do some imaginary play.

The children’s museum is full of exhibits and hands-on activities to spark creativity and help your grandkids learn. With a variety of things to learn, they are bound to leave bursting with creativity about something they want to learn more about or do.

3. A Painting Party

Painting is a dominant medium to spark creativity. You could take your grandchild to a painting party or, if you have room, set up your own painting party with smocks, easels, and paint. You can invite your friends or your grandchild’s friends or a mix of both. It will be a wonderful creative adventure for everyone.

There are different ways to paint. You could set up easels and brushes for the adults and let the kids paint with sponges or their fingers. They could paint with stamps, cut apples, or even splatter paint, which is a lot of fun. If you do this, make sure everyone is wearing old clothes or a smock and put something down on the floor to catch the paint.

6. Take a Walk in Nature

Go on a nature walk with your grandchildren and talk about everything you see and hear. When you get home, look up information on the animals, plants, trees, and other things you see to engage their learning further. Nature is relaxing and when we’re relaxed, we are more creative.

Gardening is a great creative activity. Cord off a small patch of your garden with your grandkids and help them plant their favorite fruits and vegetables. This is a great way for them to learn about how to garden and what it takes for one to thrive.

Take your grandkids to play with some cats at a cat café. This is a great place to spend time with lots of fur babies and your admission fee helps to take care of the cats. Your grandkids will love watching their antics and learning about each cat. Children might even be inspired to write a cat story, start a fundraiser for the cafe, or creatively advocate for cat adoption by designing their own t-shirts. Does this mean they are going to be the next big singer? No, that’s not what I’m saying, although they could be. What I’m saying is, they will think more creatively in their future job endeavors. They may have a creative idea for a company or a product and seeing someone successful and doing what they love will inspire them to do the same.

Cooking is not only an art but also the perfect blank space for creativity. Signing up your grandchild for cooking classes (or better yet, taking a class with them or teaching them yourself) is a great way to spark their creativity. Once they learn the basics and what foods or spices pair well together, the world is their oyster. They can be as creative as they want. They may create your next favorite meal or that must have baked good at the holidays.

For example, in my area, we have a place called Strike and Spare that has bowling, bumper cars, laser tag, roller skating, etc. This is a great example to take your grandkids to spend some energy and spark their creativity.
