Top 8 Adult Day Care Centers Near Chicago

Nowadays, we can connect with others with the click of a button. Long-distance grandparents can FaceTime their grandkids who live several zip codes away. A Facebook friend request can reconnect you with a high school classmate. And yet, we also live in one of the loneliest times ever, with former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy even calling it an “epidemic.” Even in a city as large as Chicago, you might be feeling the effects of our current loneliness epidemic. If you’re an older adult who’d love to have more face-to-face interactions, then we can help! We’ve found the BEST adult day care centers in the Windy City.
Our research process:
- Our search starts on Google! First, we find the adult day care centers with the highest ratings and most reviews. Then we go to their website (if they have one) and try to gather as much information as possible. How long has the center been in business? Who makes up their staff? Do they accept Medicaid? Veterans’ benefits? What kinds of activities do participants get to enjoy? Do they offer basic care services, healthcare services, or both? Are they state-licensed?
- Next, we backtrack to Google to read some reviews! We take all reviews into account, both positive and negative. Then we cross-reference reviews against those on other platforms, like Yelp. If an adult day care center has different ratings on different platforms, we always like to figure out why. Did a user have a one-off negative experience, or do multiple people report that they or their loved one had a terrible time at an adult day care center? We carefully consider every opinion!
- And finally, we dig through their social media profiles, usually on Facebook and Instagram. If they have a YouTube channel, we also watch the videos there (and link them below so you can watch them, too)!
Author’s note: While we LOVE doing research and helping seniors, we also strongly encourage all our readers to do their own research and visit each of these centers in person. Reviews, testimonials, and Facebook posts tell only part of the story. So, if an adult day care center has a free day pass, take advantage of it! Once you’re there, take note of what you see. Is the facility clean? Does it seem safe? And what about the staff? Do they seem kind, professional, and caring? Were they willing to help you with whatever you needed? What kind of food did they serve? Did they make special considerations for every person and their palate (i.e., if someone is a vegetarian or on a low-sodium diet)? Ask yourself those important questions and don’t be afraid to walk away if you decide a certain adult day care center isn’t for you! Your instincts know better than any Google review or Yelp rating.
