Florida Woman Leaves Fortune To Cats
In a heartwarming tale from South Tampa, 7 lucky felines have found themselves unexpectedly rich, thanks to the generous heart of their late owner, Nancy Sauer. After Sauer’s passing in November, it was revealed that her dying wish was for her beloved Persian cats to be cared for and loved, and she made sure that would be possible with no strings or financial burdens attached.
Nancy Sauer, 84, had endured the loss of her husband and son, leaving her 7 cats as her closest companions. Motivated by her love for them, Sauer thoughtfully made provisions in her will to ensure their well-being and happiness long after she was gone.
Her cats – Midnight, Snowball, Goldfinger, Leo, Cleopatra, Napoleon, and Squeaky – were not just pets; they were family.
Leslie Farrell, a neighbor of Sauer for the past decade, fondly remembers her as a vibrant member of the community. “She was a lot of fun, and we miss her in the neighborhood,” Farrell shared. “What she really wanted was for them [the cats] to be cared for.”
The inheritance Sauer left ensures that all future vet bills, food expenses, and grooming costs are paid in full for the rest of the cats’ lives.
Unfortunately, after Sauer’s passing, it became evident that her wishes were not being fulfilled. The executor of her estate discovered that the cats were living in inadequate conditions, but quickly took action. With the help of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, efforts were initiated to find loving homes for the 7 filthy rich felines.
As the 7 prepare to embark on their new journeys, the community eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome them into their homes. With dozens of inquiries already pouring in, it’s clear that Sauer’s legacy of love for her furry family members will endure for years to come.
Snowball, who has a heart condition, has already found a loving home with a local veterinarian.
The Humane Society has pledged to carry out full assessments of all potential permanent homes for the remaining 6 pets before approving any more adoptions. All prospective adopters will initially pay for food, grooming, and veterinary visits – However, in keeping with Sauer’s wishes, these new pet owners will be reimbursed by the executor once the vetting process is complete.
In a world where kindness often goes unnoticed, Nancy Sauer’s selfless act serves as a reminder of the profound impact that love and compassion can have, even extending beyond the boundaries of human relationships. May her story inspire others to cherish and care for their beloved pets as members of the family, just as she did.
Sauer’s generosity extended beyond her own pets; she also left a donation to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, although the exact amount is yet to be disclosed. Nevertheless, her legacy lives on in the joy and comfort her cats will bring to their new homes.
