LIFETIME LEARNING CENTER
SENIOR STUDIES PROGRAM
The Lifetime Learning Center Senior Studies programs are designed to engage older adults mentally, physically and socially. Each semester the Lifetime Learning Center offers a combination of tours, classes and lecture series to enrich students’ knowledge and appreciation of the world, the arts, and the community.
Our program began in 1978 when Beverly O’Neill, former Mayor of Long Beach and LBCC President invited Mary Thoits to manage the senior studies program. Mary retired from managing the Center in 2015. However, she is still teaching the World and Current Events class at the age of 95.
Classes are held on LBCC’s Pacific Coast Campus in the new Dyer Hall – Building QQ-108, and in the Center QQ-122 next to the Horticulture Gardens. The Center is a non-profit organization that operates as part the Long Beach City College Foundation and depends on the generosity of the community to provide services for the senior community.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE A TOUR OF THE CENTER OR NEED MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT THERESA BRUNELLA OR CAROL CONLEY.
