LiR at QVCC provides the means to meet the wide range of interests for mature adults who want to pursue new topics or to revisit interests from the past. Our classes and short courses are designed to stimulate the mind and provide a quality social environment in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
LiR is an independent, self-governing membership organization under the auspices of Quinebaug Valley Community College. Formed in 1995 with 120 original charter members, membership has grown steadily and now stands at over 400 individuals. Courses and programs are held in the fall, winter, and spring.
Anyone can become a member of LiR, and the period for yearly membership fees runs from September 1 to August 31. However, one must obtain a membership to participate in any group activities or enroll in a LiR course. Additionally, a Registration Fee will apply when enrolling in any of the individual programs offered during each semester. Any field trips that are arranged will incur a separate fee. Moreover, members may also attend free seminars, socials, and other programs during each semester. The membership fee is $20, which is paid only once per year, and a registration fee of $15 is charged per semester of enrollment (twice per year). Field trip fees will vary depending on the trip.
