I just returned from a seven-night stay in Aruba. If someone had told me I was at a Boomer convention, I would’ve believed them. And no wonder. From tie-dye shirt classes to bingo to sunset cruises, there was an array of activities to choose from! The weather is ideal beach weather, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 70s. You can stay on the beach or lounge by the pool all day! The best part is, everyone is friendly and relaxed. We’re all there to enjoy ourselves.
Another draw to Aruba is their excellent restaurants. Many are within walking distance from the high-rise hotels along Palm and Eagle beaches. While expensive, they’re exceptionally good! After dinner, I recommend you explore some casinos or even take in a Las Vegas-type show or two. Most of of the high-end hotels have live entertainment every night.
Everything happens on “island time.” If you’re a go-getter, be prepared to slow down and relax. In fact, the favorite saying on the island we visited was: “Relax; you’re on vacation.” So, if it takes a little longer for your food or drink to arrive, don’t throw a hissy fit. Instead, take a deep breath and go with the flow. Remember—relax; you’re on vacation.
