The NYFSC Home Sharing Program is a free service that connects adults who have extra private space in their homes (hosts) with other adults (guests) looking for affordable housing. One of the participants in the match must be 60 years or older.

How It Works:
- Screening & Matching: Professional social workers thoroughly screen all applicants and check references. They use a proprietary database called QUICK-MATCH, which considers 31 lifestyle factors to find the most compatible matches.
- Pre-Match Meetings: Before committing, hosts and guests meet to discuss compatibility and ensure they’re comfortable with the arrangement. Staff members facilitate these meetings.
- Written Agreement: To provide security and clarity, a written agreement is created before the guest moves in.
Benefits:
-
- Affordable Housing: Both hosts and guests save money by sharing housing costs.
- Companionship: The program helps reduce loneliness and isolation, especially for those living alone.
- Recognition: This program has been praised as an innovative and effective solution to housing challenges, offering financial relief and fostering meaningful connections.
