For this podcast we wanted to talk about overexertion or exercising too much and/or over extending your bodies abilities.
Overexertion is the leading cause of the 3rd most injuries to date in the US and very common amongst both active people and those who are new to exercising or getting back into it after a long period of time. It is easy to assume that we can handle the exercise load that we place upon our bodies whether it be endurance type workouts or weight raining.
Both can cause injury if we don’t approach it correctly and take special precautions or preparations before planning our exercises.

In This Episode You Will Learn:
1). Why we felt it was important to dedicate an episode to overexertion and what sparked Meredith’s interest in bringing this issue to light.
2). How we can easily get into harms way or injury by assuming we are just as in shape as we were at a younger age or at a time in our lives when we were at a certain fitness level.
3). How our pride can get in the way of paying attention to safety and proper progress when it comes to exercising over what our bodies can handle at the moment.
4). How overexertion can also affect people who still exercise regularly and how not taking care of our bodies with proper rest and nutrition can lead us to injury as well.
5). Meredith’s thoughts on why it is ok to tell yourself to slow down and pull back sometimes. Not all exercising has to be full speed. Giving your body rest and recovery time is highly recommended.
